Huntington's Disease (HD)
There are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting this autosomal dominant disease.
Led by Tran Le, M.D., our team comprises of movement disorders neurologists, genetic counselors, neuropsychiatrists, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation therapists, and palliative care specialists who manage motor & non-motor aspects of HD.
What we do
Our team provides comprehensive care (diagnosis, therapeutics, and research opportunities), including genetic testing & counseling. Care is coordinated with neuropsychiatrists and neuropsychologists to address cognitive and mood symptoms. Embedded physical, occupational, and speech therapists—both at UT Southwestern and in the community—support patients’ rehabilitative needs. Neurology-trained palliative care specialists partner with patients and families to support future care planning as the disease progresses.
Collaboration
We partner with the HD Center of Excellence at UT Houston and are in the process of becoming a Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) designated partner site to serve the greater North Texas region.
