Welcome to the Surgical Research Alliance (SRA) website. The SRA is a confederation of investigators from eight surgical departments at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The departments include: Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Surgery, and Urology. SRA investigators are engaged in a wide range of research activities. Four areas of research are of particular interest to SRA investigators: Angiogenesis; Stem Cell Biology; Tissue Engineering; and Tumor Biology.

Our mission is to foster research collaborations and interactions between investigators in the surgical departments and in the process, to elevate the profile of surgical research at UT Southwestern. We also seek to facilitate and increase translational research in surgical departments on campus. A complete description of our goals and mission statement can be found on this website.

On this website you will find information regarding the SRA members, the Steering Committee, seminar schedules, and upcoming events.

We welcome participation by any and all interested researchers on campus, regardless of their departmental affiliations. We also seek the participation of our colleagues from local universities such as the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington.

We hope that the information found in our website is useful and prompts you to participate in our activities.

Jerry Y. Niederkorn, Ph.D.
