The Alfred Gilman Award was established in 1984 in memory of Dr. Alfred Gilman, father of Dr. Alfred G. Gilman who served as Department Chair from 1981 to 2006. The award recognizes and honors outstanding research achievements by a graduate student within the Department of Pharmacology.
The recipient of the 2008 award was Katie Süel who was honored for her work in the laboratory of Yuh-Min Chook. Some of Katie's work was recently published in PLoS Biology.
