The Alfred Gilman Award was established in 1984 in memory of Dr. Alfred Gilman, father of Dr. Alfred G. Gilman who served as Department Chair from 1981 to 2006. The award recognizes and honors outstanding research achievements by a graduate student within the Department of Pharmacology.

The recipient of the 2007 award was Prashant Mishra who was honored for his work in the laboratory of Rama Ranganathan. Prashant is currently a third year medical student in the M.D./Ph.D. program. His work was recently published in Cell (click here for link).
