Aims
- Assess peripheral arteries (e.g., common femoral, superficial femoral, popliteal, posterior tibial, dorsalis pedis, peroneal arteries, or subclavian, axillary, brachial, radial, ulnar arteries).
- Identify and localize arterial obstruction by evaluating changes in pressures or waveforms associated with atherosclerosis or other disease processes.
- Assess the functional significance of arterial disease.
Indications
Appropriate indications might include signs or symptoms of peripheral vascular insufficiency including these common indications:
- Intermittent claudication
- Rest pain
- Tissue necrosis
- Follow-up of patients with known arterial occlusive disease
- Follow-up of surgical or interventional procedures
