The University Seal
The university seal is to be used on documents of a formal or official nature, such as diplomas and approved certificates. It may be used as a watermark on official stationery but should not be printed on stationery or note cards.
The seal may be used on official publications of the university, on brochures announcing university-approved continuing-education programs and on poster exhibits for scientific conferences.
All noncommercial uses of the seal must be approved by the Office of Legal Affairs.
The Use of Trademarks for Commercial Purposes
The seal, the logo, and the names UT Southwestern Medical Center, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Southwestern Medical Center, and Southwestern Medical School are registered trademarks of The University of Texas System.
The seal and other registered trademarks may be used on commercial products only if licensed by the UT System, which restricts authorized use to products that will preserve the reputation of component institutions represented by the trademarks. UT System regulations on commercial use of trademarks are stated in its Intellectual Property Policy. Consult the university Office of Legal Affairs for information on permission for use.
The seal and other registered trademarks may not be used in business names and/or logos. They may be used in a few other instances only by prior written consent of the president. Send request to the Office of Legal Affairs.
