Advanced Standing Admissions Criteria

To be considered for advanced standing, ordinarily the application will satisfy the following criteria:

• Demonstrate success in the academic coursework, especially in courses of study fundamental to the research interests of the graduate program to which the student applies.
• Demonstrate that the student has research experience in the area in which the student intends to specialize.
• Have a personal statement that indicates a defined research interest and focus.
• Have letters of recommendation that indicate that the student has superior potential as a scientist, considerable research experience, and a defined research interest.
