As the battle against cancer proceeds across a broad front, the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern is helping spearhead research and treatment of cancers of the brain, lung, breast, prostate, ovary, liver, pancreas, colon, kidney and skin, as well as leukemias, lymphomas, sarcomas and pediatric malignancies. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 1.4 million new cases of cancer expected nationally in 2007 — (and more than 91,000 of these in Texas) — the need for new treatments and preventive measures, especially locally, is more urgent than ever.

The Friends for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research are working hard to fulfill its mission of reducing the burden of cancer in North Texas by providing exceptional care through teams of clinicians, ensuring that patients have access to the most advanced technologies and cutting-edge therapeutics and reaching out to our community with messages on cancer education and prevention.

By embracing the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center and its goals, the Friends for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research will help provide exceptional cancer care and perform innovative research that reveals cancer’s secrets, guiding efforts to develop new therapeutics. This support, from grateful patients, people honoring or remembering a loved one, and corporations, foundations, or community champions with an interest in forwarding research, will ensure that the center stays at the forefront of medical research and patient care.
