For the CLAMS system, the general experimental protocol includes 1 day of acclimation followed by a 4 day experimental period. The mouse will remain in the same cage for both the acclimation and experiment. Acclimation period: Monday morning - Tuesday morning Experimental period: Tuesday morning - Friday afternoon
There are 12 cages, and the cost is $750 for one week's run.
The chow is in powdered form, so if the experiment calls for a diet other than the standard 4% chow, the investigator will need to provide it.
You must make an addendum to your current protocol to use the metabolic chambers. Please contact Laura Brule for more information.
Animals will need to be brought by the investigator or delivered to L5.320 by 10am on the Monday starting the experiment. If mice are not individually caged with identification clearly marked on the accompanying cage card, the investigator MUST be available on the delivery date to help the core personnel place mice in the chambers.
In order to have the animals delivered on time by ARC, please complete the online transportation form by Wednesday of the previous week. DO NOT SEND NON-EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS. Click here to be directed to the animal transport form
The raw data collected from the experiment will be put in MS Excel format on a CD for the investigator. This will be available for pick up shortly after the end of the experiment.
The mice from North Campus CANNOT be transporteed back to North Campus for further experiments or housing. Facilities are available for euthanasia which must be performed by the investigator. | |||||||
