The Pediatric Psychiatric Center is comprised of a team of mental health professionals whose primary interests are the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. Treatment and the opportunity to participate in clinical research studies are available to children and adolescents who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders or behavioral disorders such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder.
The main goal of the research is to serve the understudied and often untreated population of children and adolescents experiencing significant psychotic disorders. The studies examine which treatments are both safe and effective in children and adolescents experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders or behavioral disorders.
Extensive outpatient evaluations and treatments are provided at no cost and for children who are eligible to participate in a research study. Children and adolescents who are not eligible for one of the studies are referred either to the outpatient services at Children's Medical Center or to other outpatient services as insurance permits.
