The Family Studies Center provides family systems therapy to individuals, couples, and families living in the Dallas area.

Families and Health Project
Illness impacts not only patients, but their families as well. Family therapists from the Family Studies Center work throughout the medical center providing support to patients and families. Hours and Location
The Center is open for appointments from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays. The Center's business office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except on holidays.

Wayne Denton, MD, PhD, Director
Dr. Denton has backgrounds both in psychiatry and marriage and family therapy. He is conducting NIMH-funded research on couple therapy in the treatment of depression and also does research on couple communication. He has written and presented extensively in the area of medical family therapy.
Connie Cornwell, MA, LPC, LMFT, Senior Supervisor
Ms. Cornwell is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is an experienced supervisor and a therapist in our research projects.
W. Robert Beavers, M.D., Founder
Dr. Beavers is one of the foremost authorities on family dynamics and family-based therapy. Dr. Beavers has received many national and regional awards, including three from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He has published numerous papers and has authored or co-authored four books on family systems, which are seminal in family approaches to treatment.
