The Family Studies Center (FSC) provides affordable family/systems therapy on a sliding fee scale, to individuals, couples, and families living in the Dallas area.
Examples of problems and challenges addressed by the FSC:

The FSC provides professional consultation and teambuilding services to schools and agencies.
NEW: Depression and Couples Research
We are currently conducting research on the treatment of major depression disorder in women who also are experiencing relationship problems. Women must be married or have been living with their partner for at least one year. Each woman in the research study will receive free antidepressant medication and physician visits for six months. Available medications include Zoloft, Lexapro, Effexor, and Wellbutrin XL. Half of the women will be randomly assigned to also receive couples therapy with their partners from a licensed marriage and family therapist along with the medication. Partners must be willing to participate in the research for either treatment group. For more information you can:

Families and Health Project
Illness impacts not only patients, but their families as well. Family therapists from the Family Studies Center work throughout the medical center providing support to patients and families. The need for additional services is great. To find out more about how you can support this work, please call Dr. Wayne Denton or the Family Studies Center.
Hours and Location
The Center is open for appointments from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on holidays. The Center's business office is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except on holidays.
To schedule an appointment with a family therapist, please call the Center at (214) 648-6945. Session fees are based on a sliding fee scale. FSC does not accept medical insurance.
The Center is located in Exchange Park, near the corner of Harry Hines Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane, adjacent to UT Southwestern Medical Center's North Campus. The FSC is located in the American General Tower, 6363 Forest Park Road, Dallas, Texas 75235, 7th floor - Suite 722.

Wayne Denton, MD, PhD, Director
Dr. Denton has backgrounds both in psychiatry and marriage and family therapy. He is conducting NIMH-funded research on couple therapy in the treatment of depression and also does research on couple communication. He has written and presented extensively in the area of medical family therapy.
Connie Cornwell, MA, LPC, LMFT, Senior Supervisor
Ms. Cornwell is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is an experienced supervisor and a therapist in our research projects.
W. Robert Beavers, M.D., Founder
Dr. Beavers is one of the foremost authorities on family dynamics and family-based therapy. Dr. Beavers has received many national and regional awards, including three from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He has published numerous papers and has authored or co-authored four books on family systems, which are seminal in family approaches to treatment.
