Canceling a Print Job

When experiencing problems routing print jobs from a student workstation, follow these simple steps to pinpoint the problem and correct it.

First, check the printer in question for a display reading indicating a possible paper jam.  

  1. If the display reads there is a paper jam, follow the displayed instructions to clear the jam.
  2. If the display does not indicate there is a paper jam, contact the IR Call Center by phone at 214-648-7600 or by email at IRCALLCENTER@UTSouthwestern.edu.
  3. Provide the details of the error message along with the printer name, location and your contact information.
  4. Post a note to the printer stating the Call Center has been notified and the printer is not available for use.

    Note:  please do not attempt to remove paper jams if you are uncomfortable doing so.  Caution must be used not to tear the paper.

 

To Cancel the Print Job

  1. Click Start ->, Settings ->, Printers and Faxes, to locate the printer where your print job was routed.

  2. Double-click on the printer name.
  3. Right-click on the print job(s) you want to delete.
  4. Click Cancel.

  5. Click View -> Refresh to verify your print job is removed form the queue.

Users only have authorization to cancel their own print job, you cannot cancel print jobs for other students/users.
