Computer browsers must be configured correctly to connect to the Internet on campus. Below are the instructions for configuring both Internet Explorer and Firefox. The processes are very similar, but there are a few minor differences.
Preparing to Configure the Internet Browser
Through an Ethernet Connection
- Turn on the computer.
- Connect the computer to an on-campus ethernet port. Ethernet ports are located in the library at study tables and in the carrels. Ethernet cables are available when connecting in the library, but will be needed to connect in the carrels. An ethernet cable is similar to a telephone cable with a larger end piece. To connect the computer, plug one end into the computer and the other into the ethernet port.
- Open the computer browser. UT Southwestern internal sites should be available. To test accessibility, type "www.utsouthwestern.edu." The web site should appear. If it does, proceed to the steps for the appropriate browser. If it doesn't, contact the IR Call Center at 214-648-7600.

Wireless connectivity on campus is available using utwpa2. For instructions or more information on utwpa2, visit the Wireless Access using WPA2 page.
