Health Matters:

 

Need a vaccination? Time for your annual TB screening? The Occupational Health Department is here to help with those and many other services related to employee health.

What services does Occupational Health offer?
  • Occupational Health provides health-related services to all employees across campus.
    Annual TB Testing; Vaccinations for flu, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, specialized vaccinations for animal handlers, and, for qualifying employees, pneumonia.

  • New-hire processing, including TB screening , health-history and immunization-history review, and, if necessary, vaccine administration, color-vision testing, respirator-mask-fit testing, and urine drug screens (managers who wish to utilize this service should call Occupational Health prior to a new employee's start date to arrange an appointment for processing).

  • Prophylactic treatment for human or primate blood and body-fluid/body-tissue exposures.

  • Assessment and first aid and referral for non-life-threatening on-the-job injuries. For the appropriate forms, visit the WCI and Leave Administration page.

  • Limited sick call for employees who need over-the-counter medications, such as pain relievers, antihistamine tablets and creams, nausea and indigestion medications, cough drops, etc.; and Assessment of employees suffering from potentially contagious illnesses who need a medical opinion exempting them from work (e.g., clinical employees with suspicious rashes, shingles, swollen glands, etc. that may indicate a contagious illness).

  • In addition, Occupational Health manages the Worker Protection Program.

Occupational Health has one location to serve you.

What do I do if I need an appointment with Occupational Health?

If you've had an exposure to blood or body fluids or an airborne illness, policy requires that you contact the Occupational Health Department immediately. Use the exposure pager number (214) 588-6263.

Will Occupational Health be offering the influenza vaccine this year?

The Occupational Health Department is offering influenza vaccinations according to the 2007 Influenza Vaccine Distribution Plan.  Please view our calendar OHAdministration via proxy feature in GroupWise for available site visit appointment times.
