The Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC) was created in September 2005 and is located in the Bill and Rita Clements Advanced Medical Imaging Building. The AIRC is a collaborative effort between UT Southwestern and other institutions in North Texas to further the efforts of imaging and translational research. Imaging equipment such as a 3 Tesla magnet and a 7 Tesla magnet will be managed by the AIRC and located within specially designed magnet bays. The AIRC also houses a chemistry lab for development of imaging agents used to visualize cellular functions and assist researchers in their studies of: liver function, diabetes, functional brain images, cancer, and cardiac conditions.
The AIRC currently has seven faculty members with primary appointments to the AIRC. The imaging research program is also active in training graduate students and post doctoral researchers in the areas of organic chemistry, metabolic imaging, and fMRI imaging and analysis.
