All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for acceptance in to the Department of Clinical Nutrition degree programs in addition to the program track specific requirements outlined below.
- Submit a complete online application by the specified application deadline
- Mail the $10 application fee to the Office of Admissions, post-marked no later than the specified application deadline
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities ever attended
- Provide a personal statement of career goals within the application
- Participate in the personal interview required with the application
- Submit 3 letters of recommendation from people who know of your academic work and/or employment
- Complete the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and submit report directly to the admissions office at time of application. Recommended minimum combined score 1000.
- Complete prerequisite science courses offered for science majors with a grade of “C” or higher
- International Applicants who have foreign transcripts must have them evaluated by a transcript evaluation agency and an official report sent directly to the admissions office
- TOEFL scores are required for any applicant born in a country that does not consider English the native language and must be sent to the admissions office at time of application
- If accepted, applicants must be able to perform Essential Functions (pdf document page #23)
- If accepted, applicants will be required to provide immunization records per state requirements prior to enrollment
- If accepted, applicants will be required to submit a background check prior to enrollment
Option 1 – MCN-Coordinated Program Admission Requirements
In addition to the application requirements above for all applicants, applicants to the MCN-CP track must also meet the following admission requirements:
• Complete a bachelors degree in any field from an accredited university prior to enrollment
• Complete all MCN-CP pre-requisite course admission requirements prior to planned enrollment
• Recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Submit completed application and supporting materials by March 1st each year for starting in the fall semester.

Option 2 – MCN-RD or Licensed Health Professional Admission Requirements
In addition to the application requirements above for all applicants, applicants to the MCN-CP track must also meet the following admission requirements:
• Complete a bachelors degree in any field from an accredited university prior to enrollment
• Must be a Registered Dietitian or licensed health professional recognized by the Texas Department of State Health Services
• Complete all MCN-RD/LHP pre-requisite course admission requirements prior to planned enrollment
• Recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Submit completed application and supporting materials by June 1st each year for starting in the fall semester or October 1st for starting in the spring semester
• Notice of acceptance will be sent in July or November depending on semester of application.
