The center for Human Nutrition promotes obesity prevention in the community.  UT Southwestern Medical Center is providing nutrition education in classrooms of the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) and other local organizations.  Balancing Exercise and Nutrition for Students (B.E.A.N.S.) is a program where medical students make presentations in DISD classrooms.  In addition, clinical nutrition students also assist with educational materials, program development, other health-related activities and provide tailored nutrition education to DISD schools, YMCA, and other community groups.
