FAQ's
- Q: How long does the interview day last?
- A: Generally from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and ends with a cocktail reception.
- Q: Does UT Southwestern pay for lodging/travel costs?
- A: No, this is the applicant’s responsibility.
- Q: Can I change my interview date once I have been scheduled?
- A: We would appreciate at least a weeks notice so that we can make the appropriate scheduling changes. We have a wait list that can be used in case your preferred day is full.
- Q: I have a flight departing in the early afternoon. Can I request to interview in the morning so I will be sure to make my flight?
- A: We will always try to accommodate any scheduling requests that will make it easier for you.
- Q: Is there a carpool to the pre-interview dinner?
- A: Depending on where you choose to stay while in Dallas, the dinner will generally be at a venue that is within the standard 10-mile radius of most hotel shuttle services. Other arrangements can be made depending on the circumstances of the request.
- Q: I am driving my own car to the interview. Where do I park?
- A: Parking will be in Visitor Lot 7 (as shown on the Campus Map), and parking vouchers will be issued to those who require them.
- Q: Will the applicants get to observe hospital rounds during the interview day?
- A: We have found that bringing large groups of onto the patient floors is a disruption that interferes with patient care. While you will not tour the patient care areas on your interview day, you will be given a tour of the facility and can make arrangements to observe hospital rounds at another time if you so desire
- Q: How do I contact my interviewers/tour guides after the interview day if I’d like to follow up?
- A: You should contact Sara Colorado by phone or e-mail, and she will be happy to put you in touch with anyone you would like to reconnect with after your interview.
- Q: I want to interview with a specific faculty member. Am I able to request this?
- A: Depending on the nature of the request, specific faculty members can indeed be requested. However, this will be at the Program Director’s discretion, as well as depending on the schedule availability of the faculty member in question.
