Closing Date: December 15, 2008 (will remain open until filled)
Applications are invited for a joint Senior Research Associate position with the Electron Microscopy Facility and the Live Cell Imaging Facility at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. We seek a qualified candidate with a Ph.D. in cell biology or a related area and at least one year of postdoctoral training in light and/or electron microscopy. An interest in, and competence with computer-based image analysis for both 2D and multidimensional data sets at light microscope and electron microscope levels would be a plus. The fellow will be responsible for developing protocols for integrated microscopy aimed at bridging the resolution gap between fluorescence and electron microscopy. In addition, the fellow will be involved in collaborative projects with other labs on campus, an experience that is expected to be very educational and productive.
The Live Cell Imaging Facility has ten microscopes, including confocal, spinning disk confocal, two photon, TIRF and FLIM. The Electron Microscopy Facility has conventional TEMs as well as low and high voltage cryoEM and environmental SEM instrumentation. The initial appointment will be 12 months. Salary will be based on level of experience. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent upon availability of adequate funding and performance. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and name/addresses of three references to:
