Professionalism

  1. Objectives
    1. Demonstrate ability to complete routine pathology reports in 2 days.
    2. Ability to independently prepare a concise and clinically useful surgical pathology report, including the preliminary diagnosis before review with attending pathologist.
    3. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
    4. Be available in the hospital for the necessary time to perform all duties adequately.
  2. Plan
    1. Sign-out of pathology cases with attending pathologists generally begins at 8:00 a.m. each morning. Residents are expected to review the slides before sign-out and make a written diagnostic commitment.  
  3. Supervision/Assessment
    1. Informal assessment by the attending pathologist is made during interactions with residents during the rotation
