Patients with upcoming appointments in our Aston GIM clinic are being invited, via a letter, to participate in an NIH-funded research study to see whether a new computer program, Cancer Risk Intake System, will be of benefit for them.

A research assistant will call them before their appointment to assess their eligibility and to answer any questions. If they agree to participate, patients will need to arrive 20 minutes before their scheduled appointment; at that time they will use the touch-screen computer program to answer questions about their medical history and that of their family. In addition they will receive printed information about cancer screening tests as well as a $10 gift card. This study involves no medical tests or treatments.

We hope that this will be the first of many future GIM clinical studies.
