Urogynecology is a relatively new subspecialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology that deals with pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction, fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction.  The division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery offers the full scope of diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities and can provide the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for women with pelvic floor disorders. 

Our full-time clinical faculty, one of the largest divisions of urogynecology in the country, are joined by a multidisciplinary team of nurse proactitioners, physical therapists, and nurses in delivering comprehensive pelvic floor services.  CLICK HERE for Urogynecology for Women with Urinary and Bladder Problems. 

 


Diagnostic studies performed in our offices include:


  • Cystoscopy

  • Multichannel urodynamic testing

  • Dynamic cystoproctography (defecography)

  • Electrodiagnostic testing

  • Anal and bladder sonography

  • Anorectal physiology testing

After diagnostic testing is completed, the full spectrum of nonsurgical and surgical treatments is available to patients with pelvic floor disorders.



Our non-surgical program includes:


  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation

  • Physical therapy for musculoskeletal dysfunction

  • Biofeedback

  • Pessary fitting

  • Electrical stimulation

  • Behavioral modification

  • Medication therapy



Surgical approaches to urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and fecal incontinence include all current and state-of-the-art techniques such as:


  • Vaginal repair

  • Abdominal repair

  • Laparoscopic repair

  • Collagen injections

  • Interstim

Our team is committed to treating each patient as an individual.  We make every effort to design a treatment plan uniquely suited for the individual patient.
