Step 1: Complete as soon as possible all sections of the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) via the internet. Students who received financial aid from a higher education institution during the 2007-2008 academic year should file their Renewal FAFSA from this same site by using your Personal Identification Number (PIN) that was previously sent by the U.S. Department of Education. (If you have misplaced your PIN, you may request another PIN via the internet at www.pin.ed.gov. Internet access to the FAFSA is at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. The results from the internet form are received more quickly.
NOTE: You can have the FAFSA results sent to multiple institutions (UT Southwestern's code number is 010019).
The FAFSA is your official application for all need-based assistance at UT Southwestern. To complete this form you will need information from your (and your spouse's, if married) 2007 income tax return.
MEDICAL STUDENTS: You must provide parental information in the FAFSA if you want to be considered for institutional scholarships and some attractive, low-interest loans, without regard to your current financial relationship with your parents. (See Financial Aid Table in the "Guide" for programs requiring parental data.) Although you will be considered financially INDEPENDENT throughout the financial aid process (being evaluated according to your own income, assets, and resources), providing this information will significantly increase your chances of being awarded these attractive resources.
NOTE: If you are a 1st-time applicant for financial aid at UT Southwestern, we recommend that you read Meeting College Expenses: A Guide for Seeking Financial Assistance before you attempt to complete the FAFSA.
