Shari Birnbaum, an assistant professor of psychiatry, as well as Jackie Blundell, Scott Russo, Herb Covington, and Robin Reister, members of the Psychiatry department, talked to the Explorers Post on June 4, 2007. Dr. Birnbaum researches diseases like depression, anxiety and drug addiction. To have a
better understanding of the diseases, these members of Psychiatry use behavioral tests with rats and mice, such as the plus maze and a forced swim test. It was a very interesting and entertaining meeting because the members of the Post got to perform hands on activities.
