Fatemeh Abtahi, M.D.
Fatemeh Abtahi, M.D. graduated from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS) of Mashhad, Iran in 1994. Dr. Abtahi went on to begin her own private family practice in Mashhad, Iran. She continued her studies at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California. Her current projects consists of face lift (contour threads), scar less skin closure, breast and nipple reconstruction, and tendon repair. Dr. Abtahi has also been working extensively on intestinal anastomosis and abdominal closure with barbed sutures.

Sherif Mohamed Elkasthy, M.D.
Sherif Mohamed Elkasthy, M.D. is an assistant lecturer with the General Surgery Department at Menouifiya University in Egypt. His interest include body contouring surgery after massive weight loss, breast reconstruction after mastectomy, head and neck reconstruction after tumor excision, and aesthetic surgery.

Jordan Farkas, M.D.
Dr. Jordan Farkas, M.D. is currently in his first of two years of research with the Plastic Surgery Department.Dr. Farkas attained his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and continued on to recieve his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Farkas has recently completed 2 years of general surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and is currently invloved in exciting heat shock protein and laser therapy research as well as clincal studies in implantation technology and liposuction.

Dan Hatef, M.D.
Dan Hatef, M.D. is entering the second year of a two-year research fellowship in the Department of Plastic Surgery. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2004, and completed an internship in surgery at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. His research interests include breast implant technology, the role of suture delivery systems in wound healing, perforator flap physiology, and body contouring surgery technique and outcomes.

Yoko Kishi, M.D. Ph.D.
Yoko Kishi, M.D. Ph.D. is a lecturer with the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. She is board certified with the Japan Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has done research on DNA analysis of syndromic craniosynostosis and induction of DNA into mouse embryo. Dr. Kishi’s interest include congenital hand malformations and longitudinal deficiency in children. Her current projects include the study hand malformations, wound healing, NF-1, and lubricin. The results from her studies have been published in several journals. In 2002, she was presented with the Japanese Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery award.

Mark V. Schaverien, M.D.
Mark V. Schaverien, M.D. studied at the University of Edinburgh Medical School. He has gained a membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has a MSc in surgical technology from Imperial College London. Dr. Schaverien’s research interests are perforator flap anatomy and physiology.
