The CTRC Research Participant Advocate (RPA) is available to assist in protecting the safety and confidentiality of the human subjects who volunteer for clinical studies. The RPA is a resource for potential research volunteers, and a liaison and consultant to research teams.

The RPA can provide education and/or assistance on issues relating to human subject protection including the following:
- Informed consent forms and process
- Data and safety monitoring plans and boards
- Participant safety
- Conflicts of interest
- Regulatory statutes regarding human subjects
- Adverse events
