Dallas County District Attorney

Craig Watkins, the first African-American Criminal District Attorney for Dallas County, has received numerous honors and awards for his outstanding accomplishments in the community during his time in office. His innovative strategies have garnered him local, national and international attention from CNN, ABC’s “Good Morning America,” German TV, Dallas Morning News, New York Times, Washington Post, L. A. Times and Chicago Tribune. District Attorney Watkins’ SMART on crime philosophy engages innovative prosecutorial strategies that help address why offenders commit crime.  District Attorney Watkins’ interest in conviction integrity has partnered him with the Innocence Project of Texas to aid the wrongfully convicted.
