This week on Health Watch, we’re talking about looking better. We’ve been talking about erasing wrinkles and keeping your skin young, but it isn’t just wrinkles that make your face look older. The shape of your face also changes with age.
Researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have found that the lower jaw continues to widen with age, which changes the shape of the face. A smaller lower face looks more youthful in both men and women, and studies show that the smaller lower jaw is also seen as more attractive in both men and women — regardless of the popularity of square-jawed heroes in Hollywood. Dr. Rod Rohrich, UT Southwestern’s chairman of plastic surgery, says if you’re considering plastic surgery, procedures that make the lower face look smaller will make you look younger and will make a face lift even more effective.
