This week on Health Watch, we’re talking about how a registered dietitian can help you. Although most of the time when we think about food and health, we think about losing weight, there are other times when you may need help from a registered dietitian.

Lona Sandon, a registered dietitian at UT Southwestern Medical Center, says she and her colleagues can help anyone who needs to implement a nutritional plan. Some people who might need a nutritional consultation — in addition to those who need to lose weight — include pregnant or nursing mothers, those who want to improve their athletic performance, people with health conditions related to nutrition such as diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure, and people who’ve had gastric bypass surgery,
