Description:

This facility provides DNA sequencing, peptide synthesis, mass determination of small molecules and proteins and automated N-terminal sequencing. Equipment includes ABI model 3700 DNA sequencer, Ranin “Symphony” multiplex peptide synthesizer and a Micromass Quattro II mass spectrometer. Protein Identification by LS/MS/MS will be offered under the direction of Dr. Yingming Zhao in May, 2002.

Cost of Services:
Peptide Synthesis:

25 micromole: $5 per residue + $30 set-up
50 micromole: $10 per residue + $60 set-up
100 micromole: $18 per residue + $120 set-up

Quality assurance of synthetic peptides is routinely performed by reverse-phase HPLC and mass spectroscopy at no additional charge.
Incorporation of unusual or modified amino acid residues may involve additional charge.

Peptide Mass Fingerprinting (MALDI): $50 per gel band

Automated N-terminal Protein Sequencing

$12 per cycle (5 cycle minimum)

Mass determination (triple quadripole MS): $40 per sample
DNA Sequencing: $10 per sample
