Social Services

Moncrief Cancer Resources provides patients and their family members the professional assistance of state-licensed oncology social workers.  The social workers have been professionally trained to assist patients and families in their adjustment to a cancer diagnosis. Following a patient assessment, the social workers are able to determine the areas of concern that may be preventing the patient from effectively coping with their disease.

Some of the services provided for cancer patients and their families to enhance coping include:

    • Patient and family counseling
    • Support groups
    • Transportation assistance
    • Community financial resource referrals
    • Medication assistance
    • Advanced directives
    • Guestroom program referral
    • Patient advocacy

Our Social Workers maintain a close relationship with community agencies to provide patients with the resources they need.
