Therapeutic Massage
Moncrief Cancer Resources, in collaboration with Shine Therapy, offers therapeutic massage services to individuals undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers.
Shine Therapy, a non-profit organization, provides state-licensed massage therapists. Every therapist is experienced and trained in different techniques which focus on the needs of cancer patients.

Massage therapy enhances the quality of life for cancer patients throughout diagnosis, treatment and recovery. The nurturing touch of massage allows the body to relax, release stress, anxiety and tension. It helps reduce stiffness, improves sleep and increases mobility and energy to enhance health and wellbeing.
Massage offers a drug free, non-invasive and holistic approach based on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Some of the physiological effects are:
- Increasing circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs
- Reducing muscle spasms and cramping
- Releasing endorphins, the body’s natural pain killer
Moncrief Cancer Resources provides funding for the first two massages. A donation is appreciated for any additional massages however no one will be refused.
