Dr. Youxing Jiang, assistant professor of physiology and the W. W. Caruth, Jr. Scholar in Biomedical Research, has been awarded a five-year, $625,000 David and Lucile Packard Fellowship in Science and Engineering. Sixteen fellows were chosen nationwide.

By supporting unusually creative researchers early in their careers, the foundation hopes to develop scientific leaders and further the work of promising young scientists and engineers. Over the past 16 years, the fellowship program has awarded 348 fellowships - totaling more than $202 million - to faculty members at 51 top national universities.
