Dr. Frank R. Arko III, former director of endovascular surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, joined UT Southwestern recently as chief of endovascular surgery and assistant professor of surgery.
Dr. Arko's research focuses on minimally invasive treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms, deep vein thrombosis and carotid stenting. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in zoology summa cum laude from Texas A&M University and his medical degree with honors from Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
"Dr. Arko's addition will allow for expansion of our capabilities to cover a wider spectrum of vascular disease with minimally invasive techniques and endovascular therapies," said Dr. G. Patrick Clagett, chairman of vascular surgery.
