MR Safety
The Magnetic Resonance (MR) Safety program promotes a safe work environment and assists to prevent work place injuries in the MR area. This program encourages voluntary compliance with the American College of Radiology White Paper on MR Safe Practices; provides safety training on pertinent topics including hazard zone identification, access requirements, and identification of ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic equipment.
The MR safety staff performs audits in the MR environment for both research and clinical settings to provide suggestions for improvement in safety.

Screening
MR screening is part of the annual MR Safety training. The screening is conducted to ensure the safety of staff that must enter a Zone IV area. The MR screening form addresses surgeries, procedures, and/or injuries that may prohibit personnel from entering a Zone IV area. All screening forms are kept confidential. Environmental Health and Safety requires all employees to update this form annually or after any surgery, procedure, or injury that could implant ferromagnetic items/devices into their body thereby affecting clearance status for entry in the MR areas.
