Course Title: Ethics in Clinical Science

Course Description:
Interactive seminars of ethical issues faced by clinical scientists including defining scientific integrity and misconduct, intellectual property issues, human subject protection, differentiation of self from mentor, differences in data interpretation, conflict management, managing hierarchical relationships, defining authorship for publications, defining and understanding plagiarism, fraud, relationships with industry, defining conflicts of interest, performing clinical research in emergent settings, and other topics as outlined below.
Each session includes faculty discussants with substantial experience in the topic area. Student participants actively engage in discussion of prepared case vignettes, as well as case material of their own and the guest faculty.
Credit Hour(s): 1 (Achieved by attending 75% of the lectures offered during one academic year)
Location: C1.210 (South Campus)
Date: Tuesdays, Bi-weekly
Time: 2:30-3:45 P.M.
Grading Criteria: Pass/Fail, based on attendance and passing a single final written examination, which is offered at the end of each course year (May).
