The Fellowship training program integrates a strong basic science or clinical research experience with excellent clinical training in neonatal medicine. The overall goals are to provide an environment that will permit each graduate to:
- Develop knowledge of fetal and neonatal physiology and evidenced-based approaches to therapy, expertise in the clinical care of all neonates, and clinical experience in the follow-up and assessment of NICU graduates
- Develop skills in the design, understanding and performance of research that will result in a better understanding of fetal and neonatal development, physiology and pathology
- Completion of at least one mentored research project in basic science or clinical studies under the supervision of a scholarship oversight committee
- Develop expertise in all 6 core ACGME competencies
- Be fully prepared for a successful academic or clinical career
- Develop the knowledge required for certification and the tools required for career planning, adaptation and life-long learning
