ITP Patient Care and Clinical Research Group
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center Dallas (Children’s) and the Division of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (UT Southwestern) is proud to be recognized as a center of excellence in the management of children with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and in performing cutting edge research discoveries regarding its treatment.
The core clinical team, depicted below, consists of Dr. Cindy Neunert and George Buchanan, board certified pediatric hematology-oncology specialists who are full time faculty members at UT Southwestern. Both physicians have a primary clinical and research interest in ITP and are well known by others in the field nationally and internationally. They are ably assisted by two full time clinical research associates, Leah Adix and Susan Reyes, who provide oversight and support of the ITP program’s research efforts. Hematology nurses Sheryl Bartlett, RN and Ronda Wooley, RN assist on a daily basis not only with the care of our ITP patients but in helping to implement research studies as well. All of these ITP team members are depicted in the photograph below.
