Associate Professor/Professor
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is seeking an outstanding individual at the Associate Professor/Professor level to lead its Pediatric Infectious Disease Division. The candidate should have a proven record of academic success, as well as a commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and both basic and clinical research. The Division Director will have significant opportunities to recruit clinical and research faculty, and to advance clinical, training and research programs in collaboration with other centers of excellence in infectious disease and related disciplines at UT Southwestern. The Division Director will also hold the position of Chief, Pediatric Infectious Disease at Children’s Medical Center (CMC) Dallas. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas and be Board Certified or Board Eligible or have comparable credentials in Pediatric Infectious Disease.
The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease, which currently has eight full-time faculty, has a long-standing track record of excellence in clinical and translational research, with multiple lines of support from the NIH and other sources. It has participated in the NICHD-sponsored Pediatric Pharmacology Research Unit Network since 2003. The Division also has an internationally-recognized training program currently with six fellows, and the vast majority of the past 80 graduates have assumed academic positions both nationally and world-wide. The Division plays a vital role in providing expertise in pediatric infectious disease at CMC Dallas, which admits more than 15,000 inpatients yearly. CMC Dallas is the primary teaching facility in North Texas for medical students, residents, fellows, and other health professionals for the recognition, evaluation, and management of acutely ill and injured children. The Division also provides infectious disease consultations for the Parkland Memorial Hospital nurseries that care for more than 16,000 newborn infants yearly. Associate Professor/Professor
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking an individual at the Associate Professor or Professor level to join the Division of Infectious Diseases. Interested candidates should be board certified in pediatric infectious disease and have demonstrated clinical expertise in managing patients with complex infectious disease problems, including those with HIV infection and with solid organ transplantation. Additionally, it is required that the candidate have nationally recognized expertise in development of protocols to reduce the risk of infection and to manage those with infections in patients with solid organ transplants. The candidate is expected to initiate and establish a competitive research program for which he or she will be provided protected time commensurate with that support.
