Associate Director of Clinical Services, Division of General Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an individual with leadership skills to serve as the Associate Director of the growing Division of General Pediatrics and the coordinator of clinical programs provided by the Division, with a faculty appointment (Assist/Assoc/Prof) commensurate with his/her level of experience. This individual will work closely with and report to the Division Director, but will have significant opportunities for independence and leadership within the Division, recruitment of clinical faculty, teaching, and developing other academic pursuits, such as research or advocacy. The candidate should have a proven record of academic excellence, as well as a strong commitment to teaching faculty and other trainees; prior administrative experience is helpful but not required. Clinical programs in the Division of General Pediatrics include the resident continuity clinics, outpatient clinics, the child abuse and neglect program, the hospitalist program, and the adolescent medicine program.
The Division of General Academic Pediatrics is located in Children’s Medical Center at Dallas. The medical center is a state-of-the art 406 bed free-standing facility that provides comprehensive care to the children of Dallas and surrounding areas. Members of the Division attend both on in-patient and ambulatory services, where they supervise and teach residents from the categorical pediatric residency training program and students from UTSW School of Medicine.
The future Associate Director of Clinical Services must have a broad-based clinical background and be multi-talented. He/she must be board certified or board eligible in General Pediatrics. Applicants must eligible for licensure in the state of Texas. Candidates with leadership experience and prior academic appointments are particularly welcome to apply. Only individuals with strong track records as team players will be considered and individuals with documented team-building experience will be given preference in deliberations. Evidence of outstanding English communication skills is required, and bilingual skills (Spanish) would be advantageous. Faculty Positions in Hospitalist Medicine
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas seeks BC/BE Pediatricians to join the Hospitalist Medicine faculty at UTSW at the level of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor. Hospitalist Medicine faculty are members of the Division of General Pediatrics who provide clinical services at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. The medical center is a state-of-the art 406 bed free-standing facility based on the main campus in Dallas, and provides comprehensive care to the children of Dallas and surrounding areas. Children’s Medical Center will open a new satellite in-patient facility at its Plano campus in 2008.
At the Dallas campus, Hospitalist Medicine faculty primarily attend on the in-patient hospitalist services. They also supervise and teach residents from the categorical pediatric residency training program and students from UTSW School of Medicine on a traditional academic teaching in-patient service. At the Plano campus, Hospitalist Medicine faculty will staff in-patient hospitalist services, and play an integral role in the referral network. We are interested both in candidates who wish to focus primarily on clinical care as well as those with strong academic interests, including research and teaching. Candidates with research training and/or experience will be provided with adequate protected time for research, writing manuscripts, and applying for extramural funding.
