What is Clinical Research?

Research affects our everyday lives – ranging from the medicine we take to what we learn in school. Scientists and volunteers work together to answer questions about health and illness. With the help of medical research volunteers, doctors and scientists can develop new ways to prevent and treat diseases. When doctors and patients work together to answer scientific questions about human health and disease, it is called clinical research. There are many opportunities for community members and patients to participate in clinical research here at UT Southwestern.

This video provides basic information about scientific research, the goals of research, and how clinical research differs from medical care.
