Why Participate in Research?

Research affects our everyday lives - ranging from the medicine we take to what we learn in school. Much of research requires people to participate so a researcher can test out a theory or hypothesis about an important question. UT Southwestern Medical Center conducts important research to learn more about human health and also find better ways to prevent and treat disease.

UT Southwestern is looking for both healthy volunteers (people with no known medical conditions) and people with specific medical conditions to participate in research studies. Volunteers of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are needed. By having a variety of volunteers participate, researchers can learn how different people react to medications and other treatments.
