October 2014 – Ivan Pedrosa, M.D., is selected as one of 11 members of the Disease Focused Panel on Kidney Cancer by the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) to advance the radiologic contributions to the diagnosis and management of both localized and advanced renal cell carcinoma.
September 22, 2014 – UT Southwestern investigators submit a Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) grant application in kidney cancer to the National Cancer Institute (NCI). They are one of three institutions along with the Harvard Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering to be approved by NCI to submit such an application.
September 5, 2014 – Drs. Dinesh Rakheja, Joshua Mendell, and James Amatruda discover that the DROSHA gene, encoding a protein that regulates miRNA biogenesis, is implicated in Wilms tumor development.
