Descriptive Study of Children with Stroke
This study will be a retrospective chart review of patients who have been diagnosed with acute stroke between the years of 1999-2004. Chart will be obtained from medical records provided an ICD-associated diagnosis has been assigned. Under our originally closed study (022004-049), we said that all identifiers and the database would be destroyed following completion of the study. As the study has not been completed or data, analyzed, the identifiers have not yet been destroyed. We will continue to collect data from this electronic database (IRB file # 022004-049) for use in the new study (0012007-052). There will not be any new databases formed for the new study (0012007-052). Upon completion of study # 012007-052, we will destroy all subjects[Right Quote] identifiers from both (IRB file # 022004-049 and amp; 012007-052).
• Age 30 days to 18 years old.
• Children with unexplained acute neurologic deficit compatible with ischemic stroke.
• Children admitted to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas receiving the following: ICD-9 codes of 435, 436, 437.1, 437.5 or 437.9
