Summary

This is a Phase lll, multicenter, randomized clinical trial to compare clinical outcomes as they relate to blood transfusion strategies. Traditional transfusion practice, where hemoglobin levels are maintained at approximately 10-11 g/dL will be compared to a more restrictive transfusion strategy where hemoglobin levels are maintained at 7-8 g/dL.

Participant Eligibility


* >20% TBSA burn with anticipated operation need on admission as determined by
attending physician

* age18 years or older

* Admission within 96 hours of injury
