International Pediatric Stroke Study-2
By creating a retrospective/prospective database for children seen at a multiple prominent centers around the world for suspected acute stroke syndromes, we hope to define the risk factors for stroke in our patient population and to determine the nature of current treatment strategies. Participation for the subjects ends once the review of the medical record is complete and the de-identified information is entered into the database including outcome measures. This information could then be used to generate guidelines for clinical care and to develop prospective studies of outcome and treatment strategies in the future. This is a review of medical records only. Direct patient involvement/assessment is not a facet of this study.
SiPS2 sub study has 2 cohorts: Cohort 1 is a telephone follow up from the original cohort to track seizures occurrence. This will be annually for three years.
Cohort 2 is prospective collection of children with arterial ischemic stroke and tracking for seizures via questionnaire during standard of care follow up visit and/or telephone call every year for 3 years after stroke diagnosis.
