Time Limited Observational Study of Moderately Preterm (29 0/7 33 6/7 wks)
This is a data collection study only that will enroll moderately preterm infants and provide a registry of baseline and outcome data collected in a uniform manner from hospitals participating in the NICHD Neonatal Research Network. These data will represent 18 major tertiary care academic centers and a total cohort of approximately 150,000 livebirths per year. Although centers serve varying populations, they exemplify the neonatal morbidity problems experienced at all centers. These data will be used to characterize the infants, to examine the relationships between certain entry characteristics and outcome, to measure trends in incidence of various disease entities, and to provide the basis for hypotheses formulation for future multi-center studies. These data will be obtained by review of the mother and amp;apos;s and baby and amp;apos;s charts. They will provide a parsimonious but descriptive summary of the
babies[Right Quote] background, site of care, perinatal and neonatal morbidities. Baseline data will be obtained soon after birth and the outcome data will be obtained at the time of discharge from the hospital.
