This is a retrospective, within-groups population study with no comparison-control group. all patients will be diagnosed with Chiari malformations where the outcome of treatment is based on the surgical intervention. The key outcome of interest will be the improvement in presenting symptoms or resolution of syringomyelia.

Participant Eligibility

Patients will be included in the study if they meet the following criteria:

* Diagnosis of Chiari type I malformation

* Surgical intervention of Chiari malformations between October 1996 to September 2010

* Age < 18 years old at the time of diagnosis
