Development of a Multi-modality Non-Radiologic Image Repository and Registry

in this proposal, we will create an image repository and associated subject registry for the purpose of assisting clinicians in the development of treatment plans, to study outcomes, and to describe subpopulations of patients and normal subjects. This information is acquired in the development of multispecialty/multidisciplinary research studies related to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of congenital and acquired anomalies.
The database will consist of 2D still photographs, 3D surface still stereophotogrammetric images, 3D surface real time motion animations, kinematic data derived from infrared camera and pressure transduction sensors, and 3D physical models produced with rapid prototyping 3D printers. using these multiple imaging techniques, images will be collected from both healthy subject volunteers and patients. These non-radiologic images will sometimes be combined with radiologic images such as previously obtained computed tomography or MRi that have been obtained for clinical purposes. This scalable database will have unlimited potential as the basis of an evolving interdisciplinary research portal.
