Pilot & Feasibility Program
The Pilot & Feasibility Program provides modest research support for a limited time (one year with possible competitive renewal) to enable eligible investigators to explore the feasibility of a concept related to the overall goals of the UT Southwestern's O’Brien Kidney Research Core Center and to generate sufficient data to pursue the concept through other funding mechanisms (e.g., NIH R01 grant). The program provides one to two awards up to $35,000 support for one year, depending on availability of funds. No more than 10 percent of this may be used to support the PI’s salary and fringes.
The proposed studies must fall within the scientific objectives of the O’Brien Kidney Research Core Center and must utilize at least one Biomedical Research Core. The scientific goals of the UT Southwestern O’Brien Kidney Core Center are to promote bidirectional interactions between basic scientists and clinical researchers to advance the understanding of kidney development and pathophysiology, which could lead to more effective treatments of kidney diseases.
A Letter of Intent is due January 9, 2018. The application deadline is March 5, 2018, and the projected start date is July 1, 2018.
