World Voice Day

World Voice Day with the University of North Texas (UNT) professors and students. Attendees learned how to take care and conserve their voice while enjoying performances by UNT jazz, opera, and theater students.

We treat a myriad of voice, speech and swallowing disorders, including benign and malignant vocal cord lesions, vocal cord paralysis, bowing (atrophy), and spasmodic dysphonia.

The Voice Center provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services, including:

  • Videostroboscopy – a magnified examination of vocal cord vibrations using a strobe light
  • Functional Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) – an examination of the
    movement of the inside of the throat during swallowing
  • Laryngeal EMG – a test of the electrical activity of the voice box muscles in cases of weakness
  • Perceptual and objective evaluation of the speaking and singing voice
  • Behavioral intervention
  • Botox injections for spasmodic dysphonia
  • Microsurgery of the vocal folds
  • Thyroplasty and voice cord injection augmentation for vocal cord paralysis
  • Laser surgery of the vocal folds, larynx and trachea
