A lung transplant can prolong a patient's life and improve the patient’s quality of life. Lung transplantation can be an option for patients with severe end-stage, non-malignant pulmonary disease. Such diseases of the lung include emphysema, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension.
UT Southwestern Medical Center is ranked No. 1 in the nation for one-year post-transplant survival of lung-transplant patients. We also offer combination heart/lung transplants.
